Hard coating for a design table lamp

A global name in the field of lighting faced a certain challenge: a polycarbonate component in the housing of a table lamp proved to be susceptible to scratching. While the scratches themselves may have been tiny, they were amplified by the diffuse light produced by the lamp. Given the irregular shape of the component and its transparency, combined with its lighting function, the emphasis was on applying a coating with an even thickness and excellent optical quality. To do exactly that, we developed a custom process in our cleanroom. What’s more, we also assisted the client in the selection and validation of the coating.
